In the studies on the Comptroller General of the Republic, it is striking that many works contain extensive tables with their structure, their divisions and their internal organization. However, there are few references to the controlling entity in the context of its relations with other bodies, that is to say that it places its attributions and divisions in the complex system of internal and external control that exists in the Republic of Chile (See table at the end) . Nor is there a schematic or simplified chart or explanation that accounts for the innumerable attributions and faculties that this important public institution has assumed over time. Many of these powers are somewhat contradictory, such as keeping the nation's accounts and supervising, examining and carrying out the judgments of accounts (See table at the end). These and other observations should make us reflect once again on the necessary modernizations that the Comptroller's Office requires in the current context so that it can serve all Chileans.
