This article studies the leadership Colombian socialism during the first time of this political current existence. Seeks to understand how people conceived, how imagined their role as representatives of him and what available resources to try to fulfill that role. This analysis intended to contribute to understanding of the change of a democracy in which political arena involving a very limited range of actors, as was the nineteenth century, to a mass democracy, as it was after the government of General Rafael Reyes.
